The White Bucket

Whenever we go to the beach Jordan brings the white bucket. It is his place to put all his great finds from the tide pools. Some of the stuff he finds are really amazing. Sometimes, when I look down the beach to see how he is doing, I wonder what is going on because there is this big group of people all gathered together. Then I realize they are just peering inside Jordan's bucket to check out his cool finds. It's funny but it really does happen all the time. Everyone likes to help him find things and with nets in hand they search under rocks for something exciting.

On this particular day he found a sea cucumber.

Happy Easter

On Friday night we had David and Suzy's family over to color easter eggs and make colored white chocolate eggs. The kids make some cool eggs. It didn't quite matter that they had spoons to dip with when they could use their hands.

Sunday morning, Dylan was the first one to find his easter basket. Then Jordan and Brendan woke up but had a hard time finding their baskets. Brendan eventually found his and Jordan's. Dylan was so excited that Brendan found Jordan's he had to run downstairs and tell him where to find it. I tried to tell him not to tell Jordan where to find his but he just had to do it.

Can you spot they egg they are looking at?

Finding eggs at our house isn't very hard because most of it is just open space but we always hide some camouflage money eggs that for some reason are more difficult to find. Richard had to head Dylan in the right direction to find this camouflage egg that he was so excited to find.
Posing for pictures at our house is always fun.

Dylan Turns 4

Since Dylan's birthday was a Sunday, I gave him a candy lei to wear to church. He started eating it before we even got there and wore a half eaten one until we got to sacrament where it almost immediately came off so he could continue to eat it. Maybe the candy lei wasn't a great idea but it was his birthday.

A few days before his birthday, Dylan found his birthday gift (a bike) hidden in the guest room closet with both the closet and room door shut. Why he decided to go in there and then look in the closet is a mystery to me. He was so excited when he found it. He thought that Santa Clause had left it for him. He was really good and patient when I told him we bought it for him but he would have to wait a few more days before he could use it. On the day of his birthday we had a little party had Richard's parents house and we brought the bike with us. This is his first time getting to ride it around. (We are always forgetting his shoes.)

He had no idea what kind of theme he wanted for his birthday but he picked out this football pinata so we went with it. Unlike last year, he didn't mind hitting this pinata. To keep with the sports theme I made him a basketball cake. It may have been a little lopsided but from certain angles it looked perfect.

Swinging Bridges

Going to the waterfall was so fun we decided to go on another little adventure. It had probably been 14 years since I last hiked at swinging bridges. We left Dylan behind with Grandpa James since this was going to be a much longer hike than before. A few things have changed since we were there last. We now have to pay to get in to the area to hike (thank goodness Richard had over $10 in quarters in his truck) and the rope swing at the very end of the trail is gone.

There are two swinging bridges along the hike and you feel a little like your on an Indiana Jones movie when you are crossing them (or at least I do). We had to hold on tight because most everyone jumped up and down and tried to shake the bridge as we crossed it.
At the end of the hike is some very cold water you can jump into. I chose not to but the rest of my family did. Here is Richard doing one of his many dives that afternoon. (Doesn't he look graceful like a swan.)

If you are going to go on a hike you really can't beat hiking through the jungle. I had to take this picture of David and Suzie enjoying their time on the hike.
The hike isn't that far from Richard's parents house so we all piled in Richard's truck for a fun ride.

Four Generations

Grandma and Grandpa Maloy (Richard's mom's parents) came for a couple months visit while it freezing cold on the mainland. It was nice to spend time with them playing pitch, hearing family stories and just hanging out. We can't wait until their next visit.

The Hogue's

We love the Hogue's and were so glad that at least Andrew and Karen were able to come visit us this year.
Here we are at the Grand Wailea after a nice dinner.

Welcome to the Jungle

While the Hogue's were here we planned a little jungle adventure through the bamboo to find some waterfalls. Jeff & Kelly's family and David & Suzy's family joined us. When we started out I felt like we were walking down into a big rabbit hole. It was really cool, although we eventually found out we were on the wrong trail.
We ended up back where we started and found the right trail to go on. We got through the bamboo and found the rocks we were supposed to hop through but then we headed off in the wrong direction and ended up in some thick trees with no trail. (It was too bad a couple of ladies decided to follow us thinking we knew where we were going.)

After figuring out where we went wrong we heading back the way we came and found the right trail we should have followed. Shortly after, we found the waterfall we were looking for. We were so hot after all the hiking that it felt great to get in the water. David decided to jump off the top of the waterfall and Richard decided he should try it too. The rocks at the top of the waterfall were so slippery that everyone else was scared for them as they tried to get their footing and jump off. They also found a not so high rock to jump off of so Jordan had to try that one out.
Even though we took a couple of wrong turns it was such a fun outing that we will have to do again.
