chicken pox?

Brendan and Dylan came in the house covered in bumps after sleeping out on the tramp.
I kept teasing by telling them they have chicken pox but really they have hundreds of mosquito bites.
Brendan and Dylan slept out on the tramp for a fun night with their friend. It was sprinkling throughout the night but the mosquitoes were the worst part of the night.  Why they didn't come in when they heard swarms of them around them still baffles me but apparently they still had fun.  Almost a week after getting the bites, Brendan's bites got worse. They started itching him like crazy. He couldn't sleep at night and we used everything we could get our hands on to try to help him. I think he just kept itching them too much. He missed a day of school from all the discomfort but I am happy to report they are not itching anymore.
Now we are just waiting for the bumps to go away on both of them.

Baseball highlights

Baseball season seems like such a long season with games twice a week (4 if you have two kids) not to mention practices, but both boys improve more and more each year that they play.

Here is Dylan pushing the boy out of the way so he can get on base. He liked to make sure everyone played the game correctly.

After an exhausting, very hot game.

The celebration is not complete without a trophy and a candy lei.

Brendan loves to steal bases. He likes to egg on the pitcher to just try to get him out.

He became an official pitcher. Even though I had a hard time watching, he did a great job and it made the games really exciting.

Party time. Brendan's team went to da rush for the end of season party (they were his team sponsor). The whole family was invited so Jordan and Dylan got to ride the wave.

They had a lot of wipeouts but they kept getting back up there and trying it again. Both Brendan and Jordan tried ridding the wave standing up. Brendan was determined to do it and finally got it even if only for a few seconds.

Free Falling

Last week we got a bedroom set which made our bed a lot taller. Jacob and Dylan went crazy jumping and falling all over it. Jacob was hilarious as we would free fall face first in the mattress.

Go bluejays! Go Padres!

Double the fun. It's baseball season again. Four games a week and I can start working on my tan again. Yay!

Dylan lost tooth number 7 right before his game. He's going to have to go on a liquid diet pretty soon.

Toothless Boy

1 2 3 4 5 6
Dylan turned 6 and the next day he lost his 6th tooth. It wouldn't seem too bad except that none of the 6 teeth have fully come in yet. We have had to adjust his lunches to peanut butter sandwiches and chicken nuggets (anything soft or bite size pieces). I can't believe he has lost so many all at the same time-that is why I call him my toothless boy.

Finally 6!

Dylan had been counting down the days until his 6th birthday since right after he turned 5. He was so excited when it actually arrived. We celebrated by having a friend birthday party at a new, mini Chucky Cheese, Sharkey's. I have to say it was well worth the money to not have to clean up afterward. Since he had a friend birthday we had a mini family birthday on the Sunday before his birthday. Since I was not able to find a pinata, I decided to make one. It wasn't a good idea to start one the night before because it needed more time to dry. It started out as a soccer ball but Richard decided to duck tape it so it wouldn't fall apart very easily. It ended up looking like a ball of trash but oh well, no one cared, they just wanted the candy.
Dylan requested a chocolate cake with strawberries for the family party.
On the actual day of his birthday, the excitement of the day had worn off. It was his third party. He did however enjoy his presents and the cake he asked for (lemon cake with lemon slices and his name written on it).
Love the picture of cousin Ethan with an armful of tickets he won at Sharkey's.

I luv mi mom

I came home from a long night of meetings at church, and Dylan walks up to me with the sweetest picture.
Do I have the greatest kids or what!

How to cook a turkey

In school Dylan has been making pumpkin pie from scratch by following a recipe. To go along with that same theme, everyone told their teacher their recipe for "how to cook a turkey". This is Dylan's.

Dylan's turkey recipe

Take 2 cups of sugar and put 3 cups of water in it. Then add 1 cup of syrup and 8 more cups of sugar and 5 cups of special juice and hot chocolate so it's a hot turkey. Stir it all up then add deer juice and stir again. Add flower seeds and cook for 80 minutes.

Anyone want to come to our house for turkey dinner?

p.s I guess Richard's deer he shot about a month ago is still on Dylan's mind. He also keeps asking his teacher to come over for dinner so she can have deer meat.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A tooth for the tooth fairy

Last week Dylan hit another big milestone...he lost his first tooth. It had been loose for awhile but right before school one day I asked him if he wanted Dad to pull it out and he said "sure". Richard first tried pulling it out with dental floss but that didn't work so he had to go for the tweezers. It was funny, a couple of minutes after his tooth was pulled out he said "That hurt." That night he put his tooth underneath his pillow and in return got 2 dollars in quarters in a cool little bag that somehow had two guitar picks in it (I think the tooth fairy saw a cool bag and didn't realize that there was anything else in it). Dylan kept asking for a guitar so he could use his new guitar picks. Then Dylan asked Jordan if he could play his guitar because he had some guitar picks. Jordan started to get mad because he thought Dylan got in his stuff but after I explained the tooth fairy had given them to Dylan, he understood and was very cool about it. I think my kids need to return their current tooth fairy and get a new one. At least Dylan didn't have to wait a week to get his money. Our tooth fairy can be very forgetful.

Do I have any takers?

Anyone want to buy some of Dylan's school work for $30.00?

What is a five year old boy to sell when his big brother is holding a garage sale? Basically anything he can find.
I thought this pricing was a little high until I found another paper for $7000.7000. You read right-he was selling his baseball trophy for 7000 dollars and 7000 cents.

Gotta love this boy!

Caught in the Moment

Dylan was my subject of the week for my photography class I am taking online. I had him sitting on a chair while Brendan held up a blanket for my background. Brendan's arms were getting tired and Dylan was done trying to sit in a small area (the blanket wasn't very big) that he finally ended up on the floor. The floor shots actually ended up being my favorite. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

Hello, my name is Sonic

We love Sonic at our house. How could we not, look at that face. He also gets things done at very high speeds-Sonic speed.
Dylan has been calling himself Sonic for awhile now. It is not a daily thing but still quite often. When we were on vacation in CA he had people calling him Sonic and we found the best shirt while we were there at Target. The Sonic shirt. Dylan was walking around, found it and told me to get it (very good product placement I guess). It was perfect though and I had to get it. He wants to wear it all the time. The other day he was meeting one of our new neighbors for the first time. She asked him what his name was and he said "Sonic." She either didn't understand him or was surprised by the name so she asked me what his name was. Then I had to explain the situation so she didn't think I was crazy for naming my son Sonic.

Random thought

Dylan's favorite saying right now is telling me Jacob is the boss of me. It really is kinda true.

During Spring Break...

Brendan and Dylan were home for two weeks. Jordan had lab week the first week and a trip to the Big Island for our church temple trip the second week. That meant Jordan was out of the house most of spring break which left Brendan and Dylan to hang out together. Dylan kept asking where Jordan was. I think he really missed not having Jordan around the house but it didn't stop him and Brendan from having some fun together.

Saturday was the opening day of Baseball for the both of them. It started off with pictures, then parade, and then games. It was a lot of baseball for one day but I did get some needed sun (I was starting to look like I lived in Seattle ha ha). If all that wasn't enough for one day, Dylan decided to leave his game and go look for me after I left to buy him a bottle of water. After a lot of panic and a little crying, some nice mom found him for me and he returned to the game hopefully not wanting to wander off again. Brendan is on the Red Sox and Dylan is on the Tigers. I thought it was pretty cool that Brendan's hat has a big B on it and Dylan's has a big D on it.

5

We had Dylan's birthday party on the Saturday before his birthday. In preparing for the party I counted all his cousins and brothers that would be there-10 kids. Who needs to invite friends. I figured 10 kids is enough to entertain. We decided to do a slip and slide and Stacie brought her blow up water slide to Dylan's Grandpa and Grandma James' house. The day started off cloudy and on our way over to the house it started to sprinkle. Well, we figured they are going to get wet anyway we might as well set everything up. They were a little tentative at first but went for it even as the rain got heavier. Grandpa had the outdoor shower going with hot water for the kids to get warm in between slides. It actually looked pretty fun to be playing in the rain. Maybe I should of put my swimsuit on.

The sun came out and we headed outside again for the pinata. Richard had to finally break it open. Then time for balloon animals.

I love Dylan looking cross eyed as he focuses on the candle he is about to blow out.
For the actual day of his birthday Dylan got to choose what he wanted to eat and go do. He chose to go to the beach to watch the sunset and eat cheese pizza. We had a fun night at the beach. The boys played catch with the football while we had pizza and rootbeer. For his birthday cake he wanted strawberry cake.

As everyone called to wish him Happy Birthday, he was polite and wished them a Happy Birthday too.

Just hangin out

My cute nieces came to visit me from Seattle, and I couldn't resist taking some pictures.

We so enjoyed having my brother Amiel and his family visit for 10 days. It was fun to see his daughter Aubrey and Dylan play together. They are both two competitive four year olds who loved having their picture taken. Each said they could do things better or faster than the other, but we ended up using their competitiveness to our advantage when they had to go to bed or finish their food.

What do I want for Christmas?

Dylan hadn't sat on Santa's lap this year so I took him to the mall yesterday so he could tell him what he wanted for Christmas. He took one look at him and said "That doesn't look like Santa." I let him know that Santa doesn't wear his red outfit in Hawaii because it is too hot. He decided he would talk to him but he did not want to sit on his lap. Before he talked to Santa, Dylan asked me if it was a scooter he wanted for Christmas (like it is my decision what he wants). He must have got nervous because when he told Santa what he wanted he told him a bike but he remembered as we were leaving and told Santa "I mean a scooter."
