The Diaper Bag is Empty

I know I'm a crazy mom taking a picture of my child going potty but, this was taken back in August and I can now offically say he is Potty Trained!

To Infinity and Beyond!

Jacob had Buzz Lightyear party for his 2nd birthday.  He loves Toy Story, especially Buzz.

We had the whole family come along with some friends from across the street.  We played musical characters. The kids walked on the characters until the music stopped, then I picked a character from an envelope and if I picked the character they stepped on they were out of the game but they got a Logo Banz of one of the Toy Story Characters. We had a pinata and sitting on balloons until they popped.  He received many cool gifts but he loved the basketball hoop he got.

Black Eyed Boy

After a big fall off the kitchen counter, we decided to take Jacob to the doctor to get him checked out.  His left eye was starting to get swollen and all he wanted to do was sleep.  He is not sure why he is at the doctors but he can still see out of his eye at this point.

This is what his eye looked like the next morning.  I was pretty shocked to see it had gotten that bad when I went to get him the next morning.  It was so swollen and purple, but for some reason it didn't seem to bother him.  He played and watched tv just like normal. He even continued to climb back on the counter he fell off of. Such a boy!

Jail Birds

Richard got volunteered to be arrested for Muscular Dystrophy.  He needed to raise funds as bail money to get out.  Apparently they used to have a lot more fun with this fundraiser and pick them up at work with handcuffs and a warrant.  I was all ready to video tape it all but nothing excited happened so no video.

The jail was at a sports pub so Jacob and I meet him there for lunch.  They loved Jacob so much they said he could wear the shirt and take a picture with dad.  Richard looks really happy to be in jail doesn't he?  I know it is only pretend but he could have acted the part just a little. He did win a gift certificate to a flower shop and Jacob was given some kids books and a free lunch just because he's Jacob.  I don't think they see many kids at the sports pub.

Patiently waiting

It is a job to get 20+ people all together for a blessing on the food. As soon as Jacob hears the word prayer he folds his arms. He has been doing it since he was 1. It is so cute, I love it!

At Grandma & Grandpa James' house waiting for the prayer on the food so he can eat.

What Jacob has learned to do

Climb inside the dryer to play.
Climb in a chair to listen to my recorded voice read him a book.
Watch TV. They happen to be watching Funniest Home Videos which really kept both of them pretty entertained for awhile.

Free Falling

Last week we got a bedroom set which made our bed a lot taller. Jacob and Dylan went crazy jumping and falling all over it. Jacob was hilarious as we would free fall face first in the mattress.

Out and about with Jake

This morning I was getting gas at the gas station while playing pick-a-boo with Jacob in the rear view car mirror. I finished, and went to grab my keys that I always put in my pocket when I get gas. I couldn't find them so I looked inside the car and found them in the ignition with the car still on. Yeah, I had an idiot moment. I'm very glad no damage was done.

After taking pictures for a school yearbook, Jake and I hung out in our backyard while I took pictures of him and his awesome shoes I got on clearance for 9.99. (I love being at a store at the right time.) He found a basketball, a soccer ball, and golf balls. Ever since he learned how to catch, he loves anything he can throw. He kept going for the basketball even though it was so big for him that he would tumble over it most of the time as he was trying to pick it up. Such a boy.

Playing catch

Playing a little catch with Jacob today. He learned to catch the ball for the first time and was so thrilled every time he caught it. So many fun firsts. I am so glad I put aside my laundry to play with Jacob and enjoy another one of his firsts.

Uh-Oh!

Jacob's said his first word and I think it is perfect Uh-Oh. He started to say it yesterday and continued to use it for the rest of the day as he knocked over the vacuum, threw things down the stairs...

He had the whole family saying Uh-Oh as we tried to get him to repeat it over and over again.

Jacob turns 1!

My baby turned one and I can't believe it has already been a year since he was born.

Look at this picture of Jacob, taken a few hours after he was born. My 9+ pound baby with all that dark hair. It is amazing all that he has accomplished in one short year. I enjoy the changes as they happen but looking back it all happened too fast.

At his one year checkup, Jacob is now 20lbs 12oz and 31 inches long. Walking and busier than ever. We can't get him to hardly sit still except if it is to eat but even that doesn't last very long.

I had been thinking about having a pirate party for him for awhile and I enjoyed thinking of all the details that would make it fun (although after this party I decided I would never want to be a party planner- way too stressful). Richard helped write the invitation. Too bad we forgot to put that it was at Captains Quarters. Oh well, since it was only a family party it wasn't that big of a deal.

Homemade goodness from left to right:

Treasure Hunt with ten clues hidden around the house
Jacob banner (I saw something similar and couldn't wait to do it)
Pirate bunting. I love how much they add to the decor. I want to make one for all occasions.
Treasure hunt goody bags. I made each guest their own pirate bandanna with an eye patch, earring, swedish fish, gummy worms, chocolate money, and rock gems.
Birthday shirt for the 1 yr old
Beer (the root kind) labeled with everyone's name.
Pirate cupcake toppers
Not pictured: red and black beanbags (recovered blue ones from Brendan's Blue's Clue birthday when he was three).

Played put the flag on the X. Jacob got to do it with his eyes open. He had no idea what he was doing but as a mom and party planner, I was going to have him give it a try.

I knew I wanted bean bags for the party because Jake could throw one but wasn't quite sure what kind of game I was going to do- so I just winged it. I think trying to throw them into the 3 different size bowls was the perfect solution. Jake had to put each one in his mouth before he threw it. But what's a little germs between family.

The girls had a blast dressing up (way more than the boys). I love, love this photo and they literally posed themselves.

I didn't include the picture where everyone is singing to him and he is looking around wondering why is everyone singing and looking at me. There was so much chaos at this point with all the kids surrounding him wanting him to blow out the candle. He doesn't know how to blow out a candle and before I could help him he grabbed the flame. He really did not burn his finger but I am sure it hurt and of course it was all very shocking to him. He didn't dig into the cake. I tried by putting frosting in his mouth to entice him. He finally got into the frosting but not really the cake. He must of liked the frosting though because he kept licking his hands then his arms.

After cake he had to have a bath. There was so much going on I almost forgot about opening presents. He was so tired at this point (an hour past his bedtime) not to mention that he had fallen on his head, kinda burnt his finger, and hit his head on a table, but he seemed content sitting on grandma's lap as she helped him open presents. I went a little crazy with the pirate theme even buying him pirate presents. I couldn't help it they were so cute! Soon after Jake went to bed, guests left and I feel asleep on the couch. It was a long day but I would do anything for this little boy.

I am so looking forward to a new year with all my boys and all the fun and challenging experiences we have awaiting us (messy floors and all).

Happy New Year!

Being sneaky

Here's my sneaky boy going down the stairs. He just learned how to do it and all I can say is Yay! No more mad dashes to the stairs because someone forgot to put the gate up. Look at that face, he knows he is doing something exciting he usually never gets to do, trying to be sneaky and loving every minute of it.

Week in Review

How old am I???

I am so old my candles make a fire you could roast hot dogs on. Out in one breath though, that's got to count for something right?
I had a great birthday! I went out to lunch with all the women in-laws. Stacie made me a yummy cake for after lunch. Richard bought me lots of flowers and took me out to eat at Ferraro's. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and watched the sun set. Came home so stuffed I couldn't eat the cake Rich bought me or my other cake my friend dropped off that night.

Oct. 1 was the Maui Fair Parade. Brendan walked with the cub scouts. It isn't the greatest parade on earth but it's the biggest event on Maui so I've got to embrace it. Conference weekend. Time to listen to our church leaders, and hymns, fill us with inspiration and guidance. Brendan was singing one the hymns while Jacob just listens and watched without moving. A rare thing for Jake.

The comb-over is gone!

We finally gave Jacob a real haircut. Richard did such a good job especially for dealing with such a wiggly baby. His hair looks a lot lighter now. So much for my newborn baby-he is growing up too fast!

Blue eyes

Doing a little experimenting. Loving the photo editing class.
