Black Eyed Boy

After a big fall off the kitchen counter, we decided to take Jacob to the doctor to get him checked out.  His left eye was starting to get swollen and all he wanted to do was sleep.  He is not sure why he is at the doctors but he can still see out of his eye at this point.

This is what his eye looked like the next morning.  I was pretty shocked to see it had gotten that bad when I went to get him the next morning.  It was so swollen and purple, but for some reason it didn't seem to bother him.  He played and watched tv just like normal. He even continued to climb back on the counter he fell off of. Such a boy!

Our Zip line Adventures

We finally got around to going on a zip line, something we've been trying to do since our anniversary in July.
The last time I went was when I was a teenager at Youth Conference and always wanted to try it again.
It wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be.  They started us off easy and then we worked up to the last zip line which was the longest.

The following are three videos from our zip line adventures.

This is Richards last zip.  There is a bell at the end of the line that everyone tries to ring. Richard almost made it but was just a little short of hitting it.
Zip line Rich

This was my last zip. Richard took the video from the top.
Zip line Rachael

This was my fourth zip and one that I was trying out my turning skills on. Pretty impressive huh?

Halloween Activities

For their school Historical Halloween, Dylan was Thomas Edison and Brendan was Captain Kidd.

Trunk or Treat
I ordered a cowboy costume for Jacob but it got lost in the mail.  I finally faced the fact that it wasn't coming and checked my costume bin for something he could wear.  I found my Pebbles costume from way back in my college days that my mom made she made a matching one for Rich as well but it got lost somewhere along the way.  I thought Jacob as Bam Bam would be perfect, especially in Hawaii.  I quickly threw together a costume and it turned out so cute Richard decided he wanted to join in the Flintstone fun only that meant I had to throw together another costume. I do not sew clothes so it really is a miracle they turned out.

Jacob did a little Trick or Treating on Halloween day.  His bag was gettting pretty heavy but he was enjoying the experience expcept for the scary people and dogs.

Harvest Festival

Brendan won the pie eating contest at the Montessori Hale O Keiki Harvest Festival.  Jordan won last year but he was at a MMA tournament this year so he couldn't relcaim his title.  Apparently my boys have big mouths and big stomachs.

Jail Birds

Richard got volunteered to be arrested for Muscular Dystrophy.  He needed to raise funds as bail money to get out.  Apparently they used to have a lot more fun with this fundraiser and pick them up at work with handcuffs and a warrant.  I was all ready to video tape it all but nothing excited happened so no video.

The jail was at a sports pub so Jacob and I meet him there for lunch.  They loved Jacob so much they said he could wear the shirt and take a picture with dad.  Richard looks really happy to be in jail doesn't he?  I know it is only pretend but he could have acted the part just a little. He did win a gift certificate to a flower shop and Jacob was given some kids books and a free lunch just because he's Jacob.  I don't think they see many kids at the sports pub.

Pillows, Flowers, and Spray Painting, Oh my!

I have been in the creating mood lately and can't stop.  The Internet sucks me in by showing me cute decor and tutorials that I just can't pass up.  I'm in ♥ with the pillows.  I started making the ruffle pillow then happened to find the floral fabric while in the fabric store.  I just had to get it.  Just because I have a house full of boys doesn't mean I can't have some "girly stuff".  I don't know why it took me this long to figure that out.

This mirror was my first spray painting project.  I didn't take a before picture but it was a brown metal.  It was pretty easy process, except for the area next to the mirror but somehow it turned out great. I sanded it lightly after I painted it and all done!
I saw a similar pillow to this on a website that said it was purchased from Target.  I was so ready to buy it from Target but come to find out the yellow was not really the color I wanted. So what else could I do---google rosette tutorial and this  flower was the first I found. She just posted it and it happened to be the exact flower that was on the target pillow. I was so meant to make this pillow. Her tutorial was for a hair pin but I just made a bunch and sewed them together for another pillow I ♥.

This yellow frame used to be dark red. Amazing what spray paint can do.  I never look at home decor the same now.

Another dark red item that I spray painted a rose color.

Now if they only had more spray paint colors.

I'm still in project mood. but I may have to slow down so I get some much needed house work done.

Life and Tenderfoot

Since Jordan was the senior patrol leader he had to conduct this Court of Honor.  Their troop hadn't had a Court of Honor for a while so everyone earned a lot of awards. Jordan moved up to Life Rank as well as received many badges.  Brendan earned his first step on the Boy Scout Trail-a Tenderfoot.

No Cooking

No cooking for me on my birthday. Richard took me out to lunch and then as a family we went to eat at Matteos. It was so nice to come home and not have to take care of any dishes. My kind of birthday.
