Meet Ginger

Richard couldn't stand not having a pet any longer. He wanted a cat but I'm glad he settled on a bird. The kids love her. They act like it's Christmas and come running up the stairs as soon as they get up in the morning. She is just a baby but we should be able to teach her how to talk. She is a Jenday Conure.

Caught in the Moment

Dylan was my subject of the week for my photography class I am taking online. I had him sitting on a chair while Brendan held up a blanket for my background. Brendan's arms were getting tired and Dylan was done trying to sit in a small area (the blanket wasn't very big) that he finally ended up on the floor. The floor shots actually ended up being my favorite. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

16 years but who's counting

Don't we look happy. We were just a little bit spoiled on our anniversary. Through a wonderful friend we were able to stay in an ocean view room at the Grand Wailea and to top it off we both got 2hr. spa treatments. We ended our night with a beautiful sunset dinner and a stroll on the beach.

The next morning our kids joined us, along with their aunties and uncles who watched them for us, to enjoy the pools and slides at one of the nicest resorts on Maui. :)

Jacob 5-6 months

At 6 months Jacob is

16lbs 6oz
27.5 inches long

Got his first trim
Started eating solids
Loves to kick (especially during bath time-we get soaked!)
Sleeps through the night
Scoots to get what he wants
Just got his first tooth (on the bottom)
Still the best baby anyone could ever ask for!!!

The tail is gone.

Fourth of July Weekend

Richard had Friday off so we set out to do something new and different. We went to the Makawao Forrest Preserve looking for a spring and waterfall but instead found some cool caves and mushrooms. On Saturday we had a picnic upcountry which included some kite flying and of course Red hair.

Later that night it was a BBQ with the family and a firework show by Jordan.

I was obsessed

I really wanted to make an apron so I tried my best to copy one of my sister-in-laws. I think it turned out pretty cute and so I decided to make one for a bridal shower gift as well. My sister bought me some fabric I had wanted for a back of a quilt and decided to just get started with one. I researched what I wanted to do and found several I wanted to make. This first one looked so cute and easy I had to make it.
But this is the one I decided to make with my favorite fabric for the backing.

In the process of researching quilts I found at least two three others I want to make right now. I also want to attempt to machine quilt them myself but that will take much time and practice. So for now my quilt tops will sit folded waiting until I can catch up with everything else to finish them.
